What is Eco-cotton? Eco-cotton is a blend of reclaimed cotton fibers from discarded garment scraps combined with a small amount of polyester made from the incredible RPET process of recycling plastic (PET) bottles into fiber. Through a proprietary scrap fabric color matching system there are no dyes or chemicals used in the process of creating such vibrant colors from what would otherwise be textile waste.

Washing Instructions: Hand spot wash with soap and lay flat to dry. If you do machine wash be prepared for a fair amount of shrinkage.
Source: This hat is made from RCotton, a yarn milled in Spain by Ferre, a centuries old mill. Why Spain? Spain is home to the largest textile manufacturing factories in the world (Zara anyone?) and is a country that is decades ahead of any other country in recycling post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste produced by these factories. We purchase this yarn from their American partner mill, Hickory Throwing in North Carolina.
Production: Knit in Waterloo, NY by our friends and knitting partners at Mozaic Organization; a not-for-profit employing, assisting, and providing services to thousands of disabled person in the Fingerlakes, NY area. The raw knit material is then shipped in rolls to our Greenpoint, Brookyln sewing facility where it is cut, sewn, and finished by our lovely team.
Size & Fit: One Size. Length: 11-11.5" Inches (without fold)
Knit cotton is prone to stretch so if your hat feels a bit tight when you receive it, wearing it will quickly adjust it to your head. If you feel your hat starts to loosen too much over time, you can give it a hand-wash in warm water or machine wash in cold, lay it flat to dry, and it should spring right back. Cotton is a lighter material, so these hats are meant to be worn as transitional hats. If you would prefer a warmer option, take a look at our Upcycled Wool Watchcaps!
The watchcap is a style that's existed for well over 100 years, though it's most commonly associated with WWII US Navy personnel. A watchcap is a shorter hat, traditionally meant to be worn folded above the ears. However, you can also wear it unfolded, rolled, double-folded, etc.
